There aren’t many places as loaded with history as Winchester. Dominated by its Norman cathedral and once the capital of England and with ties to Alfred the Great (pictured), it remains a centre of pilgrimage for history buffs and religious visitors alike. There is of course King Arthur’s round table but is it genuine? Probably not, merely a symbol of later Kings’ desires to unite the kingdom under the auspices of legend.
On the less historic side, the antiques fair takes place on selected bank holidays throughout the year at the far less salubrious RiverPark Leisure Centre. However it is a well established fair so there is a bit of history there. The fair is currently undergoing management changes after a turbulent year, but is still one of the largest in Hampshire and a haven for buyers.Enquiries and bookings tbc
