In the tradition of quality from the Royal Copenhagen pottery works comes this highly sought after Faiance vase. This square form vase owes much to mid century modernist style, perhaps a bit Troika but certainly in the Northern European style. Tall and very slightly tapered towards the bottom and with a funnel aperture at the top.
The vase has Impressed hieroglyph style patterning of abstract form, reminiscent I suppose of South American design but also firmly placed in Scandinavia at the time.
The piece was designed by Nils Thorssen, who was the Danish company’s artistic director from 1949 til his retirement in the 1970s. This particular vase’s production range is between 1969 and 1974. Fully marked and stickered to the bottom. A quality piece of modernist studio ceramic.
In excellent condition, no damage or wear, very little sign of age – this vase has been well cared for through its life. Fully and clearly marked to the base.
